Update August: Traveling to Thailand after COVID -19

Good news for tourists who want to return to thailand.

Now that Bali – Thailand’s biggest competitor in the south east Asian tourist market, has announced that the borders for tourists will be opened from September 11th, it seems that Thailand can not stay behind.

The government recently announced phase 6 in the gradual re-opening of the Thai borders on the 1st of August. In phase 6 entry is granted to foreign business representatives, specialists, diplomats, migrant workers, exhibitors, film crews, medical tourists and Thailand Elite card members.
Looking forward, the Tourism Authority of Thailand considers re-opening thai borders in October. The Bangkok Post reports that there are plans to kick off a pilot project on the island Phuket. This would mean that tourist would be able to enter Phuket earlier but they would not be able to travel to other parts of Thailand.
