Auditing an IDC

During the IDC Staff Instructor course, you will audit an entire IDC. You will learn how to score Instructor candidates on their skill performance and teaching abilities, but auditing an IDC is about much more than that.

Together with your Course Director you will coach the Instructor candidates towards a successful IE and you will learn to use your experience in the diving industry to motivate and support beginning diving instructors.

This is very valuable in your work in your dive center. As an IDC Staff Instructor you will be regarded as a senior instructor and a mentor for less experienced staff members.

Segments of the IDC Staff Instructor course

  • Complete the 5 segments of the divetheory exam with a score of at least 80%.
  • Complete the PADI Standards exam with a score of at least 80%.
  • Perform all 24 dive skills in the Skill Evaluation, scoring 96 total points, with no
    individual score below 3.

Classroom sessions

Before auditing an IDC, you will go through Knowledge Development sessions with your Course Director :
a. Course Orientation
b. Instructor Development Standards, Procedures and Curriculum
c. How to Organize and Conduct the PADI Assistant Instructor Course
d. The Psychology of Evaluation and Counseling

During the IDC audit you will present a knowledge development session with a score of at least 4.0.
